The town stays on an edge of yellowish sandstone, and is appointed by the out of date Jaisalmer Fort. This fortification contains a distinguished regal living arrangement and a couple of expand Jain havens. Countless the houses and havens of both the fortress, and of the town underneath, are worked of finely shaped sandstone. The town lies in the center of the Thar Desert (the Great Indian Desert) and has a people, including the occupants of the post, of around 78,000.
